Traveling US Route 101 in northern California? Try this: Exit #625. Near Piercy. North 1/4 mile on State Route 271. Look for BLM sign: Red Mountain Access & Management Area. Roughly 5 miles in is a pull-out with this view. Grass for tents.
Traveling US Route 395 in northern California? Try this: just south of Susanville at Milford look for brown tent sign. Stay free at Laufman campground or proceed approx 1/2 mile further. Look for right turn-out to have this view. Some grass for tents.
Traveling U.S, Route 93 in Arizona? Try this: Approximately 5 miles south of the town of Wikieup look for Signal Road, west of the Hwy. Some grass for tents depending on the season.
